Field notes Solitary palmtree app. 15 m tall; trunk app. 1300 cm from base to crownshaft, with numerous branching, app. 1 cm thick stiltroots in the side facing downslope, brown and without lenticels; trunk green, diam. at breast height 8 cm; diam. below crownshaft 7 cm; leafscars conspicuos to the ground; internodal length 22 cm and leafscars app. 1 cm wide basally; internodal length 2.2 cm and leafscars app. 1 cm wide apically. One juvenile spear shaped leaf; leaves 5; transition from leafsheath to petiole gradual, the length of the two together being 124 cm; sheathing part apically with black chartaceous margin, the lowermost 70 cm encircling trunk, forming a green crownshaft; petiolar region strongly convex-concave in cross section, green, glabrous, 2.6 cm wide below lowermost pinna; rachis 170 cm long, green, glabrous and furrowed, proximalmost few centimeters flattend above, otherwise with abaxial ridge; pinnae 2 x 24 (+1) pointing above the transversal plane basally and centrally, inserted in one plane apically, curving, regularly distributed, alternate to opposite, insertion on rachis: longest pinna 86 x 9 cm; lamina with numerous yellow, conspicous nerves. Number of infructescences 9 inserted at the uppermost nodes below crownshaft; peduncle 64 cm long, green basally to cream, oval in cross section, 2.5 cm wide below lowermost rachillae; prophyll and 1st to 4th sheathing bracts more or less desintegrated; rachis 50 cm long, green with black patches; rachillae 38, green, the basal ones longest to 22 cm; fruits 30 per rachillae, collected at different developmental stages, at maturity bright orange to red, glabrous, spheric, 1.5 cm in diam.
