| Field notes | Solitary palmtree, app. 8 m tall; trunk 600 cm long from base to lowermost leaf, covered by gray and light gray crustaceous lichens; diam. at breast height 8 cm; diam. below lowermost leaf 7 cm; leafscars conspicuous to the ground, widest basally to 1 cm; internodal lenght 2 - 3 cm basally to 1 cm apically. One juvenile spear shaped leaf; leaves 11; gradual transition between leafsheath and petiole, the two of them together being 69 cm long; basalmost 4 cm of sheathing part encircling stem, the remaining part split in fibrous mesh, basally brown to green in petiolar region. Rachis 178 cm long, glabrous, green, proximally flattened above, narrowing gradually into a sharp ridge being conspicuous at 83 cm from the base; pinnae 2 X 54 (+1), glabrous, light green, apically cuspidate, once, twice or thrice pliated and unequally broad, regularly distributed, opposite to alternate (or, pinnae irregularly distributed and in coherent groups of 1 - 3), central pinnae largest, to 70 cm long; broader pinnae pointing above the transversal plane of the smaller, once pliated ones. Inflorescence: two; peduncle 20 cm long, encircling app. 3/4 of stem basally, flattened abaxially, green with ferrugenous feltation, 4 cm wide below lowermost rachillae; prophyll and sheathing bract deciduous, description based on material found on ground: prophyll 29 cm long, brown, coriaceous, 31 cm in circumference, with two carinae from 0.5 cm high centrally to 1 cm high basally, apically acuminate; 1st sheathing bract found inside and included in prophyll, 25 cm long, brown, coriaceous, 29 cm in circumference; rachis 52 cm long; lateral floral branches 11, apical rachillae 8, basalmost lateral branches with 2nd order branches, total number of rachillae 79, longest rachillae 28 cm long and 0.9 cm thick; flowers sunken in pits.
