| Field notes | Solitary palmtree 990 cm tall, basally with 35 cm high and 45 cm wide cone of stiltroots; stiltroots app. 2.5 cm in diam., brown and furrowed; trunk covered by light grey and grey crustaceous lichens, leafscars only conspicuous from 1.25 m below crownshaft and up, internodal length to 12 cm centrally, apicalmost internodes black. Number of leaves 6, graciously curving with more or less pendent pinnae; leafsheaths to 135 cm long and forming a crownshaft, distal 27 cm non-sheathing and marginally brown and chartaceous; crownshaft bluish green to beige with brown pubescence distally, leafsheath long attenuated into petiole and basal pinnae, thus petiole absent or very short; rachis 246 cm long, green abaxially with rounded edge from base to apex; pinnae 2 x 39, regularly distributed, opposite basally to alternate apically, shape linear or widening towards the apex, distal margin erose, insertion on rachis obliquely L-shaped: , largest pinna 90 x 10 cm. One infructescence: peduncle 24 cm long, somewhat flattened in cross section, widest diam. 4.5 cm, all exposed parts covered by yellow pubescence; prophyll 7 cm long and splitting apically. 1st sheathing bract 9 cm long, splitting apically; 2nd sheathing bract 15 cm long, splitting apically, all exposed parts of prophyll, 1st and 2nd sheathing bract with brown pubescence abaxially; 3rd, 4th and 5th sheathing bracts hood shaped, roofing infructescence, 70 35 cm long and covered by dense stiff brown tomentum; rachis few cm long; rachillae 7, to 23 cm long, with fruits closely inserted making them somewhat sausage shaped, diam. of rachillae axis and fruits app. 11 cm; fruits obpyramidal, 3.5-4 cm lon, with 5 flattened sides, exposed flattened surface covered by dense tomentum, endosperm stony.
