Field notes Understory palm, ca. 195 cm tall; stem 76 cm long from base to insertion of lowermost leaf, app. 2 cm diam, yellowish green, with adventitous roots at basalmost nodes, number of leafscars 9, internodal length 2.5 cm basally to 11 cm apically. Number of leaves 4, one juvenile spear shaped leaf present; sheath 23 cm long, green, the basalmost 19 cm encircling; petiole 17 cm long and 0.7 cm diam; rachis 43 cm long; pinnae 13, somewhat falcate, unevenly sized and irregularly distributed, the central ones largest to 24 x 7.5 cm. Inflorescence buds: two, interfoliar, 41 cm long; one prophyll and three sheathing bracts.
