Field notes Understory palm, app. 120 cm tall, with basal cone of 27 light brown stiltroots, app. 0.4 cm in diam., stem only 25 cm long from insertion of uppermost stiltroot to lowermost leaf, app. 1.5 cm in diam. and beige; leafscars 36, internodal lenght app. 0.5 cm. Number of leaves 8; leafsheath 12.5 cm long, 5.5 cm wide at base and non-sheathing; petiole lenght varying from 15 to 39 cm, app. 0.5 cm in diam., rachis 30 - 40 cm long; pinnae uneven sized, irregularly distributed, the central ones largest to 20 X 8 cm. Inflorescence: two, interfoliar; peduncle brown, 13 cm long and 0.3 cm in diam., rachis 30 - 40 cm long and 0.7 cm in diam., flowers at female anthesis.
