| Field notes | Solitary palmtree with app. 30 stiltroots, forming a 58 cm high and app. 1 m wide cone; stiltroots 4.5 cm in diam, with few non-prickly lentiscels; trunk 6 m tall from base to beginning of crownshaftat, smooth, covered by gray and light gray crustaceous lichens, diam at breast height 15 cm, diam below crownshaft 12 cm, leafscars barely visible, internodal lenght to 10 cm. Leaf bases sheathing and forming a 134 cm long crownshaft; petiole absent or petiole to 5 cm long, oval in cross section, widest diam 4.5 cm; rachis 257 cm long, green, with median ridge above, cross section: round below, angled above; pinnae 2 x 35, green and shiny above, below with yellow veins, the central ones largest to 122 x 9 cm, insertion obliquely L shaped. Male inflorescence: past anthesis; peduncle 24 cm; prophyll 10 cm long, brown, woody; 1st and 2nd sheathing bracts to 13 cm long, green to brown, splitting apically in deltoid lobes to 3 cm long; 3rd and 4th and 5th sheathing bract hood shaped, roofing inflorescence, to 31 cm long, outside with dense brown and stiff tomentum, inside glabrous, beige to brown and shiny; rachillae 5, brown, to 35 cm long and app. 0.5 cm in diam. denuded. Infructescence: with mature fruits: peduncle 31 cm, circular in cross section and app. 4 cm in diam; prophyll to 13 cm long, green to brown, woody and desintegrated apically; 1st and 2nd sheathing bracts to 15 cm long, green, split apically in partly desintegrated and app. 5 cm long, deltoid lobes; 3rd, 4th and 5th sheathing bract, hood shaped and roofing inflorescence, to 33 cm long, outside with dense brown, stiff and somewhat shiny tomentum, inside glabrous, dark brown and shiny; rachillae 5, to 33 cm long, sausage shaped due to closely inserted fruits, to 8.5 cm in diam. (fruits included), axis of the rachillae oval in cross section and app. 3 cm in widest diam. Fruits obpyramidal with five flattened sides, 3 cm long, exposed surface flattened and app. 2.5 cm in diam, with dense brown, stiff and somewhat shiny tomentum.
