Field notes Solitary understory palm, basally with 22, reddish brown, glabrous stiltroots with few lenticels and 0.8 cm in diam. Stem 256 cm long from base to insertion of lowermost leaf, glabrous and green, diam. near base 2.1 cm. Leaves 4; leafsheath 22 cm long sheathing in entire length, yellow basally to green; petiole 27-32 cm long, 0.7 cm in diam. and green; rachis app. 50 cm long, glabrous; pinnae 16, unevenly sized, the proximal and distal ones smallest, regularly distributed or more remote centrally, falcate, the largest ones to 32 x 9 cm. Inflorescences three, one newly appeared and inserted at the second node below lowermost leaf, the other two older and inserted at the nodes following below; prophyll one, sheathing, 7.5 cm long, splitting apically; sheathing floral bracts 3, to 14 cm long, chartaceous, green, splitting apically and laterally, app. 2/3 sheathing; peduncle 27.5 cm long, 0.5 cm in diam.; rachis 5.2 cm, with 10-14 rachillae, each being 15 cm long and 0.3 cm in diam., the proximal ones bifurcated; 60-90 flowers on each rachilla, somewhat sunken in pits being app. 0.5 cm fromone another.
