Field notes Solitary tree, 13.5 m tall. Dbh. 17 cm. Stem smooth, greyish patterned from lichens; with longitudinal flecks. A sword is present. Leaves 10, diam: 3 x 1.4 m. No. of pinnae: 2 x 147, insertion on rachis reduplicate, pinnae in groups of 3-5, borne in different angles. The basal pinnae small in stature. Pinnae bluish-green dewed dorsally, green ventrally, midrib and margins yellow. Inflorescence 3 (2 mature, 1 immature) interfoliar, borne among the lower leaves. Prophyll +/- persistent, 45 x 7 cm. Bract 1.3 x 0.35 m, spatulate to elliptic, woody. Longitudinally furrowed, light brown. Peduncle 45 cm, yellow. Rachis 50 cm, green. 1st order branches spicate to 45 cm, flowering branches yellow. Pestillate and staminate flowers on all branches, staminate flowers at anthesis, pistillate flowers in bud. Flowers yellow when ripe. Use: no information.
