| Field notes | Solitary tree, 19 m tall, dbh. 18 cm. Stem smooth, dark grey. Distance between leaf-scars 30 cm. Leaves c. twenty, 5.4 x 2.7 m, leaf-base greyish with thick fibres embedded in black, woolly material. Pinnae 2 x 87, reduplicate, glossy dark green above, brown pubescent below, midnerve greenish to yellow. Inflorescence 5, one immature. Bract spatulate, apically acuminate. Peduncle 15 cm long, 15 cm wide at base, brown basally to green distally, with 2 scars. Rachis up to 10 cm. Inflorescence horsetail-shaped, 1. order branches up to 1.2 m. Fruits blackish violet. |
