Field notes Solitary tree, 12.5 m tall, dbh. 10 cm. No stiltroots. Stem glabrous, white and greyish patterned from lichens. Distance between leaf-scars basally 10 cm, distally 4-5 cm. Crown shaft 1 m, smooth, bluish dewed green. A sword is present. Leaves 6, 2.9 x 2 m. Leaf-sheath covered with a brown to black lacquer. Petiole 10 cm. Rachis ferruginous pubescent. Pinnae 2 x 39, reduplicate, green dorsally, light green ventrally, nervation yellow, being ferruginous towards distal margin. Inflorescence infrafoliar, 2 major inflorescences + several developmental stages of buds. buds in groups of 5. Bracts 5. Peduncle 25 cm, brownish felted, yellow to green. Rachis very short (2 cm). Fruits cone-shaped, 1.5 cm long, distally pubescent and green, otherwise yellow. Dupl.: AAU, QCA, QCNE.
