| Field notes | Solitary tree, 8.5 m tall. DBH: 12 cm. Stem glabrous, lightbrown, furrowed longitudinally. Dist. between leafscars 5 cm. Leaves 12, dim. (1.8 x 1.0 )m. Leafsheath 45 cm long. Petiole 20-25 cm, shining red with a yellow ting. No. of pinnae 2 x 51, insertion reduplicate, pliated. Inflorescences infrafoliar. 4 mature, 1 just opened and 2 buds immediately below the leaves. Mature inflorescence (1.1 x 0.7)m. 1 sterile bract. Peduncle 25 cm, brownish felted green. Rachis 1.1 x 0.25 m, brownish felted green. 20 1. order branches, each with up to 8 2. order branches.
