| Field notes | Caespitose, stems c. 11 m tall, DBH for individual stems 8 cm. Stem armed, covered with up to 8 cm long spines. Spines in clusters. Leaf-sheath armed, greyish. A sword is present. Leaves 6 per stem, 3 x 1 m. Petiloe armed, grey. Rachis armed on the ventral side, grey. Pinnae 2 x 52, inserted at different angles on the rachis. Inflorescence interfoliar, borne in the lower part of the crown shaft. Prophyll not seen. 1 sterile bract, armed with 2-4 cm long spines, grey, 60 cm long. Peduncle 5 cm and brown. Inflorescence much branched, 1. order rachillae spicate. Fruits green. Duplicates: AAU, QCA, QCNE. |
