Field notes Solitary tree, 8 m tall. DBH: 12 cm. Stem furrowed to grooved horizontally. Distance between leafscars: c. 1 cm. A sword is present. Old leaves persistent after their death for a while (5 on this specimen). Pendant. New leaves 15, (2.5 x 1.0)m. Leafsheath with fibrous margens, dim. (20 x 10) cm. Petiole lightbrown, 50 cm long.Rachis reddish tinged brown. Hastula present. Leaves bifid at apex. No. of pinnae 2 x 12-15. Inflorescence interfoliar, borneat the bases of the dead leaves. Prophyll (?) sheathing and persistent, 40-50 cm long, 1 sterile bract, similar to the prophyll. Peduncle brownish filted green, 80-100 cm long. Inflorescence with only spicate 1. order branches. Branches pendant, up to 40 cm long, no. 5-6. Only fruiting stages present, fruits lustrous green. Use: no information. Collections: Leafsheath, inflorescence, wood sample.
