| Field notes | Solitary tree, dbh. 45 cm. Stilt-roots numerous, to 3 cm long, branching, prickly lenticels abundant, dark brown. Stem smooth, light grey. Distance between leaf-scars 8.5 cm. Crown shaft 2 m, green. leaves 5, 2.5 x 1.6 m, sword present, yellowish green. Petiole 50 cm, green. Pinnae 2 x 18, 1.0 x 0.12, borne at different angles on the rachis, reduplicate, in the process of splitting up longitudinally. Inflorescence infrafoliar, borne immediately below the crown shaft. Prophyll chartaceous, yellowish green. Sterile bracts 3. Rachillae of 1. order spicate, to 90 cm long, yellowish green and felted. Only staminate flowers and fruits observed. Use: For housebuilding.
