| Field notes | Solitary tree, 4.5 m tall, DBH: 6 cm. Stem armed. Spines borne in one or two rows below the leafscars. Spines up to 10 cm. A short sword is present. Leaves 10, ovoid in outline. Leafsheath armed. Petiole 1 m. No. of pinnae 30, insertion on rachis reduplicate. Inflorescences 3, interfoliar. Each to 1 m long, not branched. One "bract" seen. Uses: none. NV: Chontilla (Spanish). |
