Field notes Caulescent palmtree. with procumbent stem of which app. 220 cm is above the ground. Number of leave:: I 1; transition from leaf sheath to petiole gradual and inconspicuous the two being together to 90 m, with abaxial side brown basally to grayish brown distally and adaxial Ado beige basally to green distally, cross section semiterete to convex-concave with median ridge above; sheathing part of young leaves encircling basally, sheathing part of older leaves split to the base, marginally with fibrous mesh, petiolar put app. 5 cm wide below lowermost pinna; rachis from 376 to 474 cm long, dark green, glabrous, twisted app. 500 from base to the apex, flattened above the proximal 205 to 245 cm, narrowing gradually into a rounded ridge; number of pinnae from 2 x 85 to 2 X 106; the central pinnae largest from 59 X. 4.6 cm to 86 X 4,6 cm; pinnae regularly distributed, subal ternate basally, opposite centrally and subalternate oapically. Number of male inflorescences 10 interfoliar, with erect sheathing bract, curved peduncle and a pendent rachis; peduncle app. 76 cm long, flattened in cross section 5 X 2.3 cm at app 20 cm above the base, prophyll 65 cm long woody to coriaceous, with longitudinal splits, brown, fibrous splitting apically, marginally with ca. 1 cm broad chartaceous rim; sheathing bract inserted at 35 cm above the base, 53 cm long, encircling peduncle basally, splitting adaxially, glabrous, coriaceous, light brown outside, brownish orange inside: apically with two lateral ridges; 4 sterile non-sheathing bracts, the basalmost largest, to b cm long, obliquely elliptic; rachis 105 cm long 3 X 2 cm in cross section centrally; tepals reduced to a conspicuous rim; 217 stamens counted in one flower: filament subulate
