| Field notes | Solitary tree in forest fringe along logging road, stem about 3 m tall and 8 cm in diam., covered by twiners. Number of leaves in crown about 15. Leaf sheath about 70 cm long, disintegrating in fibrous mesh. Transition of leaf sheath into petiole gradual, the two combined up to 180 cm long. Three inflorescences. Three infructescences. Inflorescences: Prophyll 30 cm long, 4 cm wide, at anthesis yellow to chartaceous brown distally, splitting cleanly along the abaxial and adaxial sides, covered with brown deciduous ramenta along the carinae (keels). Peduncle as measured to insertion of the the basal rachis bract about 8 cm, flattened in cross section. PD bract absent. Basal rachis bract about 50 cm long, yellowish green, distally brown and chartaceous, covered with brown deciduous ramenta. Remaining rachis bracts decreasing in length towards the apex, green to brown and chartaceous near the tip, splitting cleanly in irregular teeth, inflated above the middle.
