| Field notes | Herb, 1 m. Leaves purplish-red below, with white varie- gation above. Floral bracts dark green with dense to- mentum. Nom. vern.: "Oa-lan-tapé" (Cayapa) Use: For "Manchas blancas" (fungal disease affecting the skin by ruining pigmentation) Preparation: The leaves are crushed to a paste which is heated sligthly and applied to the white areas of the skin. |
