| Field notes | Epiphytic, climbing. Leaftips red below. Calyx yel- lowish-green. Discus reduced to one bilobed gland. Nom. vern.: "Fimu-piñ-remedio-tapé" (Cayapa) Use: To treat bites from the Equis snake (Bothrops atrox). Preparation: A cold extract is made from the crushed leaves and drunk twice a day or the leaves are crus- hed to a paste which is applied to the haemorrha- ge. |
