| Field notes | Herb, 50 to 60 cm tall. Stems reddish-brown. Nom. vern.: "Dès-tapé" (Cayapa). Use: To treat epilepsy (convulsions with loss of conscience). Preparation: The leaves are crushed in water and the extract applied to the head. This treatment is said to cool down the head. |
