Field notes Shrub, 3 m. Shoots scandent. Fruits apically dark green, basally white. Nom. vern.: "San-tapé" (Cayapa) Use: For coughs. Preparation: The leaves are crushed to a paste that is mixed with water and drunk in the morning. Taste is said to be very bitter. Nom. misc.: All kinds of birds are said to feed on the berries.
