| Field notes | Herb, 3-4 m. Floral bracts red. Nom. vern.: "Pa-ban-go!la-ljuin-chi-remedio-tapé" (Cayapa). Use: For gangrene and bloodpoisoning. Preparation: The leaves are crushed and mixed with urine. The affected tissue is washed with this mix- ture. The treatment is either said to lessen the swelling or to have no effect at all and the patient will soon die. |
