| Field notes | Epiphytic, pendent. Leaf apices red below. Corolla yellow. Discus reduced to single posterior gland. Nom. vern.: "Fimu-piñremedio-tapé" (Cayapa) Use: To treat bites from the Equis snake (Bothrops atrox) Preparation: The leaves are crushed and applied to the bite. The paste is said to absorb the venom. Alternatively the leaves are boiled and used, when cold, to rub the swelled tissue. |
