Field notes Solitary palm tree, stem 1.5 m tall, 10 cm in diam., leaf scars inconspicuous, distal internodes narrow. Number of leaves in crown 9. Leaf base about 45 cm long, split to the base, not forming a crownshaft, disintegrated along the edges in fibrous mesh, greenish basally to light brown distally, glabrous. Petiole 10-15 cm long. rachis 140 cm long. Number of leaflets 2 x 28, regularly distributed in one plane. One inflorescence in staminate bud. One inflorescence in pisillate phase. One immature infructescence. One mature infructescence. Inflorescence in pistillate phase: Prophyll 43-44 cm long. Peduncular bract (PD bract) 61 cm long. Peduncular part of 1. order branches about 60 cm long, rachis part 67 cm long as measured to the base of the apical rachilla. Infructescence: mature fruits ellipsoid 4 x 3 cm, light crimson. endosperm ruminate. Additional material: pickled pistillate flowers. Duplicates at: AAU, LAE, BRI, K, CANB.
