Field notes Solitary palm, stem 20 m tall, 20 cm in diam., covered by crustaceous lichens, leaf scars inconspicuous. Leaves in crown 11. Leaf sheath tubular forming a 85 cm long crownshaft, green with ferrugineous ramenta. Petiole 10-15 cm long. Rachis 205 cm long, strongly curved, leaflets 2 x 55, evenly distributed except at the base where 2-3 are joined. One inflorescence with flowers in bud. One infructescence. Inflorescence: peduncle short to absent. Rachis 63 cm long as measured to the base of the apical rachilla. Number of first order branches 32. Basal 1. order branch 22 cm long, number of 2. order branches 13. All major branches yellowish green, buds darker green. Fruits immature, bullet shaped, 3 x 1.2 cm, green, glabrous, with liquid endosperm. Duplicates at: AAU, LAE, BRI, K, CANB.
