| Field notes | Solitary palm tree, stem 13.6 m long, 17 cm in diam., inconspicuously ringed. Leaves in crown 7 (+ one spear leaf), more or less distichously arranged. Leaf sheath split to the base, transition into the petiole gradual, the two combined 130 cm long, sheathing part of leafbases of old leaves resolved in fibrous mesh. Petiole 3 cm across below the basal leaflets. Rachis 270 cm long, with 50 cm long v-shaped furrow adaxially (above), twisted whereby leaflets become oriented in vertical position. Number of leaflets 2 x 52, greyish to whitish abaxially (below). Two inflorescences. Two Infructescences. Inflorescence: peduncle 64 cm long, rounded to oval in cross section, yellowish-green, glabrous. prophyll 36 cm long, 12 cm across, yellowish green to green, disintegrating in fibres along the carinae and near the apex. Peduncular bract (PD bract) 200 cm long, 14 cm wide above the middle, brownish on the outside, light brown on the inside, thick leathery. Number of 1. order branches 30.
