| Field notes | Solitary tree, about 18 m tall, diam 17-18 cm. Stem covered by crustaceous lichens, nodes obscure til about 3 m below crownshaft. Leaf scar about 2 cm wide, upper internodes green 6-8 cm wide. Number of leaves in crown 11. Leaf sheath tubular 130-135 cm long, forming a green glabrous crown shaft. Petiole 10-15 cm long. Rachis 3.6 m long. Number of leaflets 2x102, evenly distributed in one plane, dark green above, mid green below. Inflorescence in pistillate phase green. Peduncle absent to very short. Rachis 52 cm long as measured to the base of the apical rachilla. Number of first order branches 17. Basal 1. order branch 40 cm long. Second order branches 14, 5 cm long as measured to the base of the apical rachilla, bearing 4 branches of the 3. order, all inflorescence branches glabrous, green, angled. flowers green. Infl. in bud and beginning of male anthesis yellowish green. Infructescence green in all parts, glabrous, with immature, greenish elliptical fruits. Duplicates at: AAU, LAE, BRI, K, CANB. |
