| Field notes | Solitary palm tree, stem 7.3 m long to crown shaft, 7.5 cm in diam., inconspicuously ringed except for the distal nodes, internodes here 3-4 cm wide, greenish, leaf scars 1-2 cm wide. Number of leaves in crown 8 + spear leaf. New leaves reddish tinged. Leaf sheath tubular forming a 55 cm long, light greyish crown shaft. Petiole 20-30 cm long, 5 cm across at the basal pinnae, with greyish hair covering basally. Rachis 2.4 m long. No. of pinnae 2 x 56. One inflorescence at male anthesis, one immature infructescence, one mature infructescence, 2 buds. Inflorescence peduncle 33 cm long. Length of prophyll 34 cm, chartaceous, 7 cm wide at base, greyish powdery. Length of PD bract in bud 55 cm. Rachis 66 cm long as measured to the base of the apical rachilla, branching to 3. order basally, number of first order branches 18, basal 1. order branch 25 cm long with 12 2. order branches, basal 2. order branch with 3 rachillae. Rachis, branches and rachillae deep maroon, calyx maroon, male flowers with whitish stamens. Infructescence greenish, fruits orange maturing red, 7-8 mm in diam.
