| Field notes | Stem ca. 15 m tall, 28 cm in diam. Leafsheaths splitting to the base. Fibrous to chartaceous along rim. Petiole ca 180 cm long. Blade 140 cm from hastula to tip, 175 cm across. Peduncle about 50 cm long. No of rachillae bearing nodes 4. Gynoecium hidden in olivegreen perianth except for stigmatic slits which are exposed at pistillate anthesis. Stalk of rachillae about 20 cm long. Flower bearing part 20 cm. The apex with immature flowers or sterile bracts. Pistallate flowers to 10 per rachillae branch. |
