| Field notes | Massive stem shooting from clump, 11-12 m to tip of infructescence, 45-48 cm in diam., surface granular to spinulose, basally with cone of adventitous roots. Hapaxanthic. Leaves wilting. Leaf material collected from younger stem of the same clump: Leafbase and petiole combined 280 cm long, sheath splitting to the base, with brown chartaceous margin, gradually narrowing into petiolar part, this being deeply furrowed and 6.5 cm wide at the distal end, rachis 4.90 m long, 3 cm in diam on the middle, no. of pinnae 2 x 60 + 1. Main axis of Infructescence about 150 cm long, no. of 1st order branches 14, fruits green. |
