| Field notes | Solitary, giant rosette palm with 20 leaves. Petiole and leafsheath combined about 4 m long, green, with brown furrow adaxially gradually narrowing and disappearing 130 cm above the point of leaf insertion, petiole being here 5 cm in diam. Blade 580 cm long, with 2 x 55 pinnae, arranged in groups of up to 4, pointing in different directions. Individual collected with 1 staminate inflorescence at anthesis and three past anthesis. Inflorescence with 15 cm long peduncle and 14 nodes bearing 2 order branches. Basal branches with 11 spicate rachillae. |
