| Field notes | Stem 17 m tall, about 40 cm in diameterat the base. Tree carrying one inflorescence bud and one young infructescence. Leaves 7, leafbase about 150 cm long, green with beige indumentum splitting and desintegrating in long fibres along margin, petiole 55 cm long, green. Overall shape of leaf blade broadly ovate to elliptic. Rachis 530 cm long and 7 cm in diam on the middle, with 2 X 21 2nd order divisions, up to 230 cm long. Infructescence with about 1 m long peduncle, 14 cm in diameter on the middle, with ferrugineous indumentum. PD bracts deciduous or desintegrating apically. Rachis 250 cm long, green, desintegrating distally, number of rachillae 157, uniformly about 150 cm long and desintegrating apically. Inflorescence bud sheathed by about 130 cm long PD bract, the distal 110 cm being exposed, yellowish green basally to green with patchy ferrugineous indumentum. |
