| Field notes | Caespitose palm, rooted under water. Stem up to about 4 m high. Distance from hastula to tip of leaves up to 75 cm. Infructescence: prophyll 25-30 cm long, yellowish green with red tinge. Peduncle 28-30 cm long, yellow basally with sparse ferrugineous feltation to green where covered by first tubular subtending bract. Rachis 90-100 cm long, yellowish green where exposed. Number of rachillae-bearing first order branches 5, these subtended by green tubular bracts, splitting 2-3 cm, distally desintegrated and brown and chartaceous. Fruits very few, globose, 8 mm in diam., orange when mature. |
