| Field notes | Caespitose, hapaxanthic. Stem collected about 350 cm tall. Leaf sheath 105-115 cm long, grey where exposed, split to the base opposite to petiole, desintegrated along margins in coarse rounded fibers, embedded in whooly mesh of finer intersecting fibers. Petiole 35-45 cm long (Leaf dimensions depending on age of palm and therefore variable). Rachis basally about 7 cm wide, up to 500 cm long, pinnae 2 X 89-91, evenly distributed in one plane and subopposite, except for the proximal ones grouped in 2 or 4. One pistillate inflorescence: several peduncular bracts, the four proximal ones of which are largest up to 85 cm long. Peduncle 40 cm long, green and covered by ferruginous feltation. Rachis 37 cm long, green, sparsely covered by ferruginous feltation basally. Rachillae 23, more or less of the same size, 55-b0 cm long. Petals with brown striae. Gynoecium yellow, about 20 mm in diam. |
