Field notes Solitary palm tree about 5 m tall and 6 cm in diam. Leaf petioles persistent jutting upwards. Young individals with spines horisontal to the petiole. Number of leaves in crown 22. Prophyll 32 cm long, yellowish basally to brown chartaceous on exposed parts, splitting cleanly at the apex. PD bract 25 cm long, green to brown chartaceous at the apex, splitting cleanly. Rachis 130 cm long, almost entirely covered by tubular subtending bracts. Number of partial inflorescences 10, basal one branched to 2'nd order, with only one 2'nd order branch, 2 cm long and bearing 2 rachillae. Rachillae 15-18 cm long throughout. Fruits immature green.
