Field notes Solitary tree 8-10 m tall, said to reach 20 m. Crown of 25-30 leaves. Petioles of variable length 150-210 cm long. Inflorescences 3, past anthesis, with very young fruits. Basal 50-100 cm of petioles persistent and pointing down. Prophyll about 25 cm long, yellowish beige to brown and chartaceous on exposed parts, splitting cleanly at the apex. Peduncular bract inserted immediately above the prohyll apex, 27 cm long, green covered by patchy ferrugenuous tomentum, brown and chartaceous towards the tip, splitting cleanly. Peduncle about 45 cm long. rachis about 100 cm long. partial inflorescences 7, the distalmost two wiltered. All parts green and covered by scarce patches of ferrugenuous tomentum. Young fruits light green. "Bruk bral" (Bewani talkplace).
