| Field notes | Cultivated solitary male tree, 6 m. tall, stem covered by white crustaceous lichens, diam. 18 cm. Number of leaves in crown 17. Fibrous mesh of leafsheath 1 m long, reddish brown. Petiole 140 cm long, the rim of the lower 40 cm disintegrated into fibrous mesh. The rest of the rim covered by 5 mm long thorns, decreasing in size towards the lamina. Petiole green, flat above, rounded below, few scales above, more below ( about 1/3 being covered). Scales brown in the central part, grey in the rim. Hastula very prominent. Blade 224 cm long, 160 cm across in outline, 2x35 segments, each shortly splitting. 1st segment: 55 cm joined to adjacent segment, 70 cm free. 2nd segment: 16 cm joined, 79 cm free. 3rd segment: 15 cm+79 cm. 10 th segment: 27+90. 15th segment: 34+108. 20th segment: 33+123. 25th segment 54+125. 30th segment: 76+130. 35th segment 90+134. Inflorescences numerous, 10+, branched basally in 3 partial inflorescences. All past anthesis and withered as none of them have developed fruits. Nom. vern: "Suru" (Olo language).
