Field notes Solitary understory palm, 9.5 - 1 m tall. Stem diam. 1.2 - 1.5 cm. Distance between leaf scars 0.3 - 0.4 cm, scars 0.2 - 0.3 cm wide. Number of leaves 5 plus one spear leaf. leaf sheath 10 cm long, split to the base, exposed parts yellow to green with scattered ferrugenous tomentum, margin desintegrating in longitudinal fibres. Blade bifid, 34 cm long, 12.5 cm wide at the widest point near the middle, adaxially dark green, mat abaxially lighter green, with concentration of ferrugenuous felt along the prominent veins and the rachis.
