Field notes Solitary palm, 7-8 m tall. Stem 10 cm in diam. at breast height, distance between leaf scars here 20-25 cm. Leaf scars 1-2 cm wide. Distance between nodes distally 12-15 cm. Uppermost nodes green. Number of leaves in crown 8. Leaf base tubular with short, 5-10 cm long split, forming a 80-90 cm long crownshaft. Distinct petiole lacking. Rachis 290 cm long, 5 cm in diam basally, green, rounded abaxially, furrowed adaxially. Number of pinnae 2 x 47 plus one mid segment. Infructescences 2. Prophyll deciduous. Peduncle 8 cm long. Rachis 40 cm long. Fruits densely clustered, giving the infructescence an overall sausage shape.
