Field notes Solitary palm 9 m tall, diameter at breast height 10 cm, with basal cone of proproots, 40-50 cm tall, 45 cm across basally. Distance between leaf scars 6 cm basally, 3 cm distally. Crowns of 17 leaves plus one folded red tinged spear leaf. Leaf base about 60 cm long, split to the base, gradually narrowing into the petiole, margin blackish to green, desintegrating in coarse fibres. Petiole length approx. 50 cm . Number of pinnae 2 X 32. Rachis 275 cm long. Inflorescences 2.
