| Field notes | Common in forest. Flowering individuals from 3-6 m tall. Stem of palm collected 5.5 m tall and 7 cm in diam. Leaf base about 25 cm long, transition to petiole indistinct, split to the base, brown, rim desintegrating in fibrous mesh. Petiole variable from 105 to 200 cm long, green, shallowly channeled above, with grayish brown zone basally on the adaxial face, this zone extending upward for about 30 cm and superseded by into two stripes gradually narrowing and running along the elevated carinae. Blade 105 cm long, 106 cm wide in outline, split in 28 segments, these slightly lighter green below. Infructescences 2, both mature. Prophyll 30-31 cm long, unexposed parts yellow, exposed parts beige, chartaceous, with brown brown rim, breaking in irregular pattern. Number of partial infructescences 8. Proximal subtending bract 27.5 cm long, green, covered by ferrugenous tomentum, apically brown chartaceous. Rachis of proximal partial infructescence 36-38 cm long, branched to 2. order (only proximal rachilla branched), number of rachillae 29, up to 33 cm long (the proximal ones). Colour of fruit bright orange at maturity (green at immaturity). Seed slightly furrowed. |
