| Field notes | Caespitose, hapaxanthic. Largest stem collected about 7 m long up to lowest persistent leaf base, 12-15 cm in diam, grey, curved basally, stepped from leaf scars. Leaf sheath 70-85 cm long, split to the base, persistent, grey, deintegrating aslong split in coarse fibers embeded in network and wool of finer fibers. Petiole 35-40 cm long, 55-70 mm in cross section distally. Rachis 450-500 cm long. Pinnae evenly distributed in one plane, 2 X 101-103. Stem with one inflorescence with functionally male buds and two infructescences. Infructescences with mature fruits: Peduncle 65 cm long, 6 cm in diam. basally. Multiple peduncular bracts, desintegrating distally. Rachis 32 cm long, green. Rachillae 23, 25-35 cm logn. Fruits green, 35-40 mm wide, 40-45 mm long, somewhat triangular in cross section. Inflorescence with functionally male buds: Peduncle 50 cm. Rachis 30-35 cm. |
