| Field notes | Clustered with several, up to 5 m long stems, the one collected 3 m tall. Leaves 8-12. Leaf sheath 72-78 cm long, tubular for 60-65 cm forming a bright red crownshaft. Petiole red, 15-20 cm long, glabrous. Rachis 105-120 cm long, above red, below red on proximal part to green distally. Pinnae 2 X 29-31. Stem collected with one inflorescence. Peduncle 4-5 cm, reddish green with short, stiff tomentum. Floral rachis 28-30 cm long red and with short, stiff tomentum, with about 13 secondary raches proximally, distally bearing a number of unbranched rachillae. Young fruits green. Ornamental outside bungalow of park employees. |
