| Field notes | Stem solitary, 10 m tall, swollen at base and also half way up. Leaves 15; sheath and petiole 150 cm long; sheath fibrous proximally; rachis flat adaxially, rounded abaxially, 4 m long; pinnae 165 per side, regularly spaced, opposite to sub-opposite, in one plane. Inflorescence predominantly staminate with only a few pistillate flowers at base of rachillae. Common name 'Carossier' |
