| Field notes | Trunk approx 10 m tall, 8 cm diam at apex, with stilt roots 1 m tall. Leaves 6. Petiole 13 cm. Rachis 273 cm with 16 alternate pinnae per side divided into (from base) 1-1-1-3-3-2-5-3-4-4-5-5-3-1-1-1 segments, the proximal the largest, the distal pointing up and forward at 45° to rachis. 1 inflorescence, lowest, with pistillate flowers only, peduncle 23 cm long; 3 cm diam, rachis 17 cm long with 30 rachillae, each approx 70 cm long and 4.5 mm diam, pistillate flowers to end except for pointed tip, proximal 7 rachillae bifurcate, this inflorescence whitish-green. Second inflorescence with both staminate and pistillate flowers, white, sweetly scented, peduncle 25 cm long, 3 cm diam, with 29 rachillae approx 75 cm long, pistillate and staminate flowers to end of rachillae, except for pointed tip, proximal 7 rachillae bifurcate. 2 long pendulous inflorescence buds and several short erect buds above at each node |
