| Field notes | Stems clustered, 8 m tall, 1.5 cm diameter with sheaths. Sheaths brown tomentose initially, green below, densely covered with short, greenish-yellow spines; ocreas short, membranous, early deciduous; knees present; flagella present; petioles 8 cm long; rachises 38-41 cm long with 7-10 pinnae per side, arranged in remote clusters, leathery, with prominent, yellow cross-veins, the basal pair swept back (especially on more apical leaves), the apical four in a group, the apical pair joined for ca. half their length; pinnae blunt at the apices; rachis ending in a short stub at base of split.
