Field notes Stems clustered, the bases with a mound of visible roots and a clump of 5 or more stems, to 10 m long, 1.1 cm diameter without sheaths, 1.5 cm diameter with sheaths, green without sheaths. Sheaths closed, tubular, green, with few short spines, with light brown mottling; ocreas present but very short; flagella present, to 2 m long, with regular groups of spines, the flagella inserted very near the apex of the sheath and with a curious attachment to ocrea; knees present, keeled longitudinally; petioles 6.8 cm long; rachises 45.7 cm long; pinnae. 25 per side of rachis, regularly arranged, asymmetric at the apices. N.V.: "phdao toekkhmun" (honey rattan, cut stem smells of honey)
