| Field notes | Stems clustered, the bases with a mound of visible roots and a dense clump of stems, to 100 m long, 1-1.5 cm diameter without sheaths, 2.5 cm diameter with sheaths, green without sheaths. Sheaths closed, tubular, green, with very short spines, with light brown mottling; ocreas present but very short; flagella present, to 2 m long, with regular groups of spines, inserted very near the apex of the sheath; knees present, keeled longitudinally; petioles 8-23 cm long; rachises 90.5 cm long; pinnae 25-27 per side of rachis, regularly arranged, asymmetric at the apices. Infructescence 2 m long, flagellate, with three partial infructescences; rachis bracts strictly tubular, not expanded at the apices, the partials inserted above the mouth of the bracts. Fruits orange, ellipsoid. Produces a good quality, flexible cane, exported to Thailand. Local people in another locality where the palm is said to occur, Pra Moy, say also exported to Vietnam.
