| Field notes | Stems clustered, forming large thickets, 10 m long, 3 cm diameter with sheaths. Sheaths green, with brown tomentum, with densely arranged, flattered, yellow, laciniate spines; knees present; flagella absent; ocreas scarcely developed; petioles 16 cm long; rachis 105 cm long; pinnae 28 per side of rachis, more or less regularly arranged; fruit globose, yellowish-brown.
