| Field notes | Stems clustered, forming clumps along the river margin (not in adjacent forest), to 4 m tall and 3.5 cm diameter (with sheaths). Sheaths brown with numerous, flat, black spines interspersed with smaller spines; ocreas fibrous, disintegrating; petioles 40 cm long; rachis 130 cm long with 24 irregularly arranged, linear-lanceolate pinnae per side.
